I had never seen a golf tool like this and neither had he. However, it's wonderful that it's made because if you use your clubs long enough, the grooves on the head are bound to wear out. My husband bought a used set a couple of years ago so there's a few clubs that will be in need of this tool. This groove sharpener has a head with 6 different points for all groove shapes. The directions say run at a 45 degree angle with little force on each groove, clean the club then run one more forceful stroke and you're finished. Sounds easy enough. This tool is little it'll fit into the golf bag easily. It even has a hole at the end of the tool to attach to the key ring or clip if you have a spot to store it. I have never had my grooves reconditioned and have been using the clubs for the last 10 years, so the grooves were extremely worn and dirty. Before starting, I watched a few videos on line showing how to use the Ace Swing Golf Club Sharpener Tool Cleaner. The video mentioned a few important points to improve the effectiveness of the tool. One was to put some tape on the toe and hosel of the club (just outside of the grooves), so that you don’t have to worry about scratching your clubface. Another was to add a lubricating oil to the grooves prior to using the tool. The last was to make sure you know what kind of groove type you have on your clubs.
